Titchwell on the north coast of the County of Norfolk is mostly known for it's RSPB reservation.

It is a small quiet hamlet housing 85 people.  There are, however, three substantial hostelries catering for the bird watchers who arrive in their hundreds to visit the Reserve which is out on the marsh.

The only shop is there to sell binoculars and telescopes.

Up above the hamlet on a road winding out of the village there  is an old Chalk Pit surrounded by trees. Some years ago resident Bob Gould, chairing a village committee and doing much of the physical work himself, changed this site from a rubbish tip into a beautiful and peaceful habitat for wildlife.

He still looks after it today.
