- All Craft launching must carry third party insurance of not
less than £2 million pounds and abide by
(a) The International Regulations for the prevention of collisions at sea.
(b) The Pleasure Boat Bylaws.
(c) The General Directions, a copy of which can be had from the notice board at the
entrance to the harbour.
(d) Safety Recommendations of the British Water Ski Federation.
- All visiting Power Craft (with engines above 15 hp) must
first contact the Harbour Master for permission to launch and also obtain a registered
number (a one off cost) from the Marine Centre.
- The Harbour Master, Mr. Mervyn Nudds, can be contacted by
telephone on 01485 210 638, by radio call sign Harbour, or at The Smithy, Main Road,
Brancaster Staithe. If he is not available and not on the harbour then contact the
Marine Centre for advice, telephone 210 381.
- A donation for launching is requested of £5, to be placed
in the box on the Buoy for maintenance of the harbour.
- All craft must be helmed by persons who are adequately
trained and experienced to use such water craft. They may not be used in a dangerous
manner or without consideration for others.
- A Harbour speed limit of 6 knots for power driven boats (or
less to reduce the effect of wash) is in force in the areas shaded in red on the map
below.
- To ensure the safety of bathers and anchored craft Any
craft landing on or passing nearby a beach must approach with extreme caution at
reduced speed and with minimal wash.
- No Jet Skis or Kite Surfing is permitted within the
Harbour.
- Any collision, accident or potentially dangerous situation
must be immediately reported to the Harbour Master in writing on a form that is available
from the Marine Centre, Northshore or the Barn.
- Sail boarding is prohibited in the vicinity of moored boats
and the red shaded area except that boards may be sailed directly to/from open water.

Remember if you behave
